Happy Holidays!
We’re on the ramp to launch, and stuff is happening. But before I tell you how to get a chance to win 6 books that aren’t even out yet (including Celebrity Crush), I want to share…
Two rave trade reviews have come in for Celebrity Crush from the Library Journal and Publishers Weekly, and I couldn’t be more thrilled!
I had to reach out to my agent, Cathie, to find out exactly what this meant—remember, I’m still new at this. Apparently Publishers Weekly is a big deal. First, they have to decide if they want to read your book, so that alone is a win. Then, if they like it, it’s a double-win. This is all good news for my little romcom!

Thank you to FWA for the Bronze Award in Sci-fi!
Switching gears… my alter ego, C.P. Swift, who writes sci-fi and fantasy won an award at the Florida Writers Association conference and banquet back in October. I submitted my manuscript, Planet of Souls, which is still trying to find a home with a publishing house. It’s my first official win as a fiction writer! If you are interested in my sci-fi or fantasy writing, consider subscribing to that newsletter. You can also read some free fantasy of mine.
Celebrity Stuff…
This month let’s change it up a bit and talk about a woman. One of my favorite female celebs is Katee Sackhoff. You might know her from Longmire or The Mandalorian, but I fell in love with her in Battlestar Galactica. Her Kara Thrace (aka Starbuck) was so fierce and beautiful, but also epically flawed. I love a beautiful, chaotic character, and Katee’s portrayal of Starbuck has inspired characters of mine, including Cilla in Planet of Souls. (Side note: she had some amazing haircuts in that show.)
Another thing I love about Katee is how open she is on her social media. She’s always sharing photos and snippets of her life with her husband and their two kids, including how, recently, on a riverboat trip in Amsterdam, they had to ask the boat captain to literally just drop them off anywhere because their 3-year-old daughter was having a meltdown and their baby son had filled his diaper and wasn’t happy about it. See, celebrities aren’t that different from the rest of us! Katee also has a great podcast where she interviews fellow actors and gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the taping of BSG, etc. She’s still friends with a lot of those folks.
That’s it for this month! Next month we’ll be gearing up for launch, and if you’re in Florida, please mark your calendars for a Launch Party on Thursday, Feb 27th from 5-7PM at The Blueberry Patch in Lake Placid, FL!
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, and Happy New Year!
