Love and Spaceships, Volume 6
A writer retreat in Savannah, I started Book 2, and free short stories!
Happy Halloween! I have a present for you… I entered a romance short story promo and that means you guys get to read a bunch of love stories for free! (If you found me from that promo—welcome!) My short story TRUST FALL is featured. It’s the most out of place looking one. Just scroll past all the bare, glistening pecs and you’ll find it. As my dear friend Emily Colin said:
Indeed.
Anyway, the cover looks like this:
I’ve shared it through here before, so you might have already read it, but in case you haven’t, it’s about an agoraphobic board game designer who falls for the girl in charge of his conference booth. If you like Jason Momoa and anxiety coping mechanisms, this is the short story for you!
OK, enough about that! I just had a birthday on October 27th. It’s a big number and I’m vain so it’s been a bit rough. However, I did something really fun to celebrate—I rode horses in the Gulf of Mexico with my family!
They can make me get older but they can never make me act older!
This company is called CPonies out of Bradenton. All of these horses are rescues. Mine was Marina, and she was a bit of a brat, but we came to an understanding when I used the “Mom” voice on her. Horses and kids aren’t all that different. And, yes, they really do swim!
In other news, I have officially started my second Celebrity Crush book! The first one debuts in early 2025 and my deadline for Book 2 is in early February, so it was time to get that bad boy started. I wanted to get a head start in October and make it my Nanowrimo (National Novel Writing Month) project. So far I’m on track! What can I tell you about this project so far?
It features the original book’s sidekick as the protagonist
She’s a sci-fi make up artist
The celebrity crush Love Interest has a RDJ/Tony Stark energy
There’s a puppet
I’ll update you on how Nanowrimo went in the next newsletter. Wish me luck!
OK, more fun behind-the-scenes author stuff… Earlier in the month, I went on a writer retreat with some people I met on Twitter. I know—ill advised, but guess what? No one ended up being a serial killer and we had a fantastic time in Savannah! I even got my first tattoo to celebrate my book deal. This Tiktok video accurately captures the vibe:
The moral of the story is… go ahead and meet your online friends in person. They’re probably not going to kill you.
Thanks again for being a part of this journey. Feel free to share this newsletter with anyone you think might be interested.
I love you all and appreciate you! Happy Fall, y’all!
Great update on what's going on in your journey. Can't wait to read the short story! ♥️
