Me and Henry Cavill at the Wax Museum, Your must-see summer movie, the inspiration for Celebrity Crush, and FREE romance reads!
Nothing to see here! Just my Best Day Ever meeting all the hunks from the MCU. Or was it the Wax Museum in Niagara Falls last summer during our most recent family reunion? Let’s just say there’s an inappropriate picture of Henry Cavill and me on my hard drive and you’ll never see it.😳
Why are these guys important? They were the inspiration for Celebrity Crush. I wrote the book during the COVID quarantine in March 2020, when we were all locked up and wondered if the world was ending. One of my coping mechanisms was to get the family together for a Marvel marathon. Well, the girls and I got a little obsessed (it was a weird time, amiright?), and I started to fantasize about how cool it must have been to be part of something like that. I mean, these actors were working together over 10 years to create these films! Also, the book is kind of a love letter to the entertainment industry. I don’t know what I would have done without that major distraction during a very difficult time. Raise your hand if entertainment got you through COVID! I know I’m not the only one.
Publishing News…
I just sent my first round of edits on Celebrity Crush back to my editor. She’ll send me a second round, and once I incorporate those, we should be good to go. Still no cover art yet, but you’ll be the first to know!
In the meantime, I’ve been participating in #WritingWednesdays with some writer friends, talking up our WIPs (works in progress). One of the recent prompts was characters. Here was my post:
Part of the fun of this book is that in the opening scene, you don't know which of the 4 hot "Lost Star Dance Troupe Saves the Universe" hunks she has a crush on! Is it Sean, the uber-confident ship's captain with the Irish smolder and the lock of yellow in his jet-black hair? Is it Jason "Mount" Ramirez with his shirt tearing itself to pieces over his enormous pecs and That Dimple? Is it the other Jason--boy-next-door Jason Connor--with his meme faces and the little crack in his voice? Or is it Andrew with his cowboy boots, guitar, and silky smooth voice? The only way to find out is to read it. ❤️
Summer Movie Recommendation…
If you want something light and fun and full of all that good Ryan Gosling energy, I give you…
Ryan and Emily Blunt were magic, and, similar to Celebrity Crush being a love letter to Hollywood in general, this movie was a love letter to the stunt men and women who risk their health and lives to give us all the wow moments. My face hurt from smiling so much during this movie, and I walked out feeling like a million bucks and like maybe I like Ryan Gosling too much…

If you’re a fantasy lover, I have some exciting news for my C.P. Swift brand. I launched my board game fantasy story Shards of Power, a Story from the World of Rolling Empires on Royal Road. You can read it for free as the story rolls out. I have 11 episodes published there right now, and there’s also an option to get an Early Access Pass through Ream or Patreon. If this is your jam, I’d love for you to read, comment, and rate/review. It will help boost me on the platform’s algorithm.
On the Personal Side
It’s been a rough go. Let’s do a tally of the pros and cons of being me this past month.
Pros:
got a promotion
my agent is moving to a California-based agency that has a film rights arm, which could make it easier for me to get a movie deal
got a high score on Beat Saber
Cons:
recently hit with $21K of home-related expenses after husband being out of work for 4 months.
raccoon killed one of my chickens
kid broke our TV
Next month, however, I am looking forward to flying out to Colorado to welcome a grandson into the world! Baby pics to come!
